Review: Mountain Dew Game Fuel

Posted on October 25th, 2011 by knaaks

As the holiday season approaches, that can only mean one thing to us gamers. That’s right, new flavors of Mountain Dew! The latest flavor of Dew is commemorating the “most anticipated game of all time” (Their words, not mine!) Call of Duty 8: Call of Duty 4 3: Modern Warfare 3! The new Gamer Fuel boasts a “charge of tropical flavor” and comes in a slick black and green can, featuring a stunning portrait of John Callofduty wearing a gas mask on it, ready to spring in to action! I did like the appearance of the can, it kept the traditional Dew style, but you could easily tell it apart from the other flavors, and the green and black looked good together and was reminiscent of the Modern Warfare box art . The Game Fuel also has more caffeine than a regular Mountain Dew. It has 73mg per 12 oz, compared to 54mg in regular Dew, in theory to keep you gaming for longer without needing sleep! To be perfectly honest, I did not notice any difference as far as any sort of caffeine content goes, but that might be because of I have been a caffeine addict for most of my life. Read more »

Impressions: A Day in the DC Universe

Posted on November 3rd, 2011 by knaaks

On November 1st, DC Universe Online, an ambitious Massive Multiplayer Online RPG by Sony Online Entertainment, ditched their monthly fees, and went free to play. I have always been a fan of comic books and super heroes in general, so I had always been interested in checking it out. The Jim Lee art and the presentation always intrigued me, but was turned off by the 60 dollar price tag, in addition to monthly fee, and the time commitment required for a MMO, so I never bothered to try it out. Now that the game was free to download and play, I finally had a chance to check it out.  Read more »

The server is down for a major update.

Due to the release of Minecraft today our servers need to be updated. We have to take them down for now but we hope to get the newly updated server up as soon as possible. This is where we need you, we need your suggestions. We want to shape this server into something you want to play on. I have some ideas for what I want it to be, and I’m sure your Minecraft preferences are something you’d like to see in this server as well.

Man, this is a game I used to play a LOT. Like, a LOT A LOT. In fact, it still may be the Mario game I’ve played the most, though not quite my favorite. Still, it holds a special spot in my heart just because it was something I was really into as a kid, so maybe you’ll get the chance to check it out and see if you enjoy it or not! Here we goooo!

Oooo, finally? FINALLY? One of my favorite games of all time comes to the Wii U Virtual Console today for only THIRTY cents. That is a better deal than I could EVER ask for, so naturally I downloaded it and threw up impressions of my first 15 minutes with the game! Check it out and start backflipping in excitement!

The Cyber Zone – Brisket Kids

Posted on May 9th, 2013 by Sack

Oh man! More Cyber Zone? You betcha! We’re starting a bit early tonight, so tune in for hot Cyber Action starting at 9 MST!

I find that it works out in my favor to play games that other people might not want to play.  I’ve also found that when I do so with someone who I find to be hilarious, the results are extremely good. That is the reason why I am continuing to do thorough Let’s Play videos with my good friend Pat!  Previously bringing you a hot session of 19-steamy episodes for Aliens Colonial Marines, we have been focusing our recent efforts on The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct for the XBox 360.  While the game isn’t perfect by any stretch, we’re having a good time, and hope to bring you laughter and tears as you join us on an unforgettable journey to a bunch of very forgettable southern towns that are dealing with the Zombie outbreak.

Check out Episode 1 below, and be sure to watch the whole playlist to catch up with all the necessary drama and find out if your favorite characters are dead!

Some Sunday Funday Morning

Posted on May 5th, 2013 by Sack

The desire to make any normal title for a post into a video game pun is overwhelming, and while I’m going to try to do it every time, there are probably going to be moments where I simply don’t have the mental energy to do so.

So, this is one of those posts that is around simply to just talk about life and the store. It may be funny, it may not, but it’s fun for me to catch you guys up on what I CAN tell you, and what surprises I’m going to hint toward. Read more »

Hey hey! With The Cyber Zone being done for the night, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who got a chance to get online and check out our show! If you missed it, no big deal, as the actual interview is now here, in a much higher quality direct feed form! Go ahead and check out 42 excellent minutes and be sure to go to McGroove’s Facebook and YouTube page to check out some of his fantastic music!

So, lovely viewers, we have a special tonight on the Cyber Zone! Starting the show at 7 PM MST, we’ll be talking about a slew of stuff for the whole evening and broadcasting the actual interview at 8 PM. I didn’t have a chance to get the interview as a live component, but it’s a recorded session I did with him and hopefully sheds some light on questions you may have about such a great gent! After the podcast, I’ll be posting the link to the direct recording, in case you miss our live debut. If this is your first time watching, welcome to The Cyber Zone, and we hope you dig it as much as we enjoy doing it!

Tell your friends, because this is going to be one for the books!

Oh man! One of my favorite games of all time? Sure, let’s go ahead and play a full round of Mega Man for the NES, but on the Wii U. Weird, huh? Not TOO weird, as is proven in this anecdotal video!

Oh, hey! Our awesome buddies over at Media Glitch have put together an excellent video revolving around a Sega Genesis Classic, and GA in involved!  Check it out and enjoy this, because there’s nothing more rewarding than revisiting a classic the way these guys do!

Games that Kill – (Hint: None of them)

Posted on April 29th, 2013 by Sack

One of the most exciting subjects in the world of video games is their influence on people and their mannerisms. Every time there is a tragedy involving people getting shot (in America), it can be nothing but the work of the brain-washers at Call of Duty. Don’t believe me? Well, if you take a look at anything Jack Thompson has ever talked about, you’ll see that over the past ten years, it’s clear that video game have become far more than entertainment, they’ve simply become a super cheap way for the military to train unknowing young soldiers to fight the battles in their minds to prepare them for our next draft, or, if worse comes to worse, it backfires and turns them into sociopaths with one thing on the mind: death.

I don’t say these things to make light of how terrible situations are very much a part of our reality, and really, I’m doing nothing but go further into my own personal experiences. However, with the media influence I’ve had growing up, I want to talk about why it has done nothing but the opposite of what every desperate lawyer has wanted it to represent. One of the most famous cases of this insane desire to shift responsibility is what happened at Columbine 14 years ago. Read more »
