Micro-Review: Kid Icarus 3D Classics

Posted on August 16th, 2012 by Sack

You know what one of my favorite things is? An old game getting a coat of paint. A nice, fresh, extra dimensional coat of paint. Like, I really enjoy when Mario gets an ALL-STARS for SNES, or Zelda gets a 3D enhanced port of Time’s Ocarina, but to me, one of the greatest joys of the 3DS has been the 3D Classic Series. They’re more than just the same game, and I’ll tell you why.

Review: Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes

Posted on August 10th, 2012 by Geist

Ever since Batman: Arkham City came out and all the DLC and story was taken care of, I have been going through some pretty serious Batman withdrawls.  This game was able to give me just what I needed to get my fix.  Plus there was the added bonus of more DC superheroes than I could shake a stick at– and Legos!

Impressions: Pokemon Conquest

Posted on July 2nd, 2012 by Sack

Wow, this is a weird one for me to get into.  Most people who know me know that I don’t exactly have a disdain for SRPGs, but rather a dislike for the amount of depth and time they take.  To counter this, Gamefreak thought it would be a good idea to put Pokemon, my favorite little critters, into a game I might not normally like!  First, I’ll give a brief history of my experience with SRPGs and explain just what it is that I don’t meld with. Review: Monster Tale

Posted on July 22nd, 2011 by Sack

Have you ever found a game that just strikes the chord in your heart, a gem that comes from out of nowhere and is everything you’ve ever wanted in a game?  Sometimes those things happen, and often times they are fantastic little cult hits that will only be appreciated by a few people out there, those that get the opportunity to even hear about them through some stroke of luck in the first place. For me, I was fortunate enough to hear about Monster Tale from a good friend of mine, and I’m beyond glad he told me.

“Monster Tale”, he says to me in a smokey, raspy voice, “is basically a combination of Metroid, Mega Man, and Castlevania.”

After I wiped the pee from my pants, I understood that this was something I would need to try for myself.  It’s not to say the game is perfect by any means, but he was most certainly not off base with his initial description.  For many of you, just reading that description may be a selling point, as it absolutely was for me.  But there may be a few things to delve into to make sure that you’re going to know that there are a few things to expect.
